International Summer Academy Kassel

The International Summer Academy in Kassel is a unique short term education program specially dedicated to chinese students. Every year about 50 participants take seminar classes in specifically created modules and experience the benefits of studying in another country. The ISA program focusses on the academic education, while also creating an environment that encourages learning in and about another culture, both through activities and well chosen seminars:

• German as a Foreign Language, Regional Studies and Business Communication
• Intercultural Communication
• Scientific Skills

Students are able to gain useful insights in the offered fields of study and improve their intercultural communication skills in an international learning environment.

The university program is combined with several leisure time activities, such as workshops, excursions and a German language course, which is offered at different levels. Kassel's location in central Germany makes other destinations in Germany and Europe easily reachable within a few hours. Excursions to Berlin and the history city of Marburg are included in the program.

In addition, students will be accommodated at a host family for the time of their stay. Due to this structure the program guarantees a broad and realistic impressionof German culture, historical heritage and daily life in modern society.

Fee for the Optional Berlin trip is: EUR 315.

Included in your fee are: 

• Seminar 1 (30 contact hours)
• Seminar 2 (15 contact hours)
• Seminar 3 (15 contact hours)
• Workshops (e.g. German Dancing Workshop)
• Cultural Program (Excursions, Opening- and Closing Ceremony, etc.)
• Accommodation in host families, 2 meals per day included
• Ticket for public transportation in Kassel
• Health and Liability Insurance

If you arrange your own accommodation elsewhere and therefore do not need to be placed in a host family, please inform us as soon as you apply. The fee will be reduced in this case.

Please note: We cannot offer any fee reductions for those who do not want to attend the entire program.

Possible additional expenses include:

• Travel expenses
• Personal spendings
• Lunch at the cafeteria of the University of Kassel
• Participation in optional activities

Please make sure, that you bring enough cash with you on the day of arrival to cover any additional cost and have spending money for food and beverages to last for the first few days.
